“Khachaturian Festival” has launched

The international contest after Aram Khachaturian has started by “Spartak” ballet. It’s already 11 years since the contest has unified talented musicians creating music feast day indeed.
Contest has several objectives. First of all is to reveal the strongest candidates and then – to expand Aram Khachaturian’s music glory. Besides, this is the golden opportunity to represent our country – as Nona Voskanyan has mentioned in her welcome speech. The musicologist has also added that competition proves the words of Komitas who said that we have our own music.
– Spirit of Khachaturian music is immortal as well as our country.
Eduard Tadevosyan (the head of competition Jury, People’s Artist of RA, State prize winner) has mentioned in his speech that he’s been convinced by his own experience in greatness of Khachaturian.
-The advantage of Khachaturian’s music lies also in the fact that maximal possibilities and instrument’s sound beauty are demonstrated in his compositions.
This year the contest will be held between violinists coming from about twenty countries. A. Khachaturian was the real master in this field. His violin Concerto was a true masterpiece, flavoured with Armenian colours. And namely this composition was performed during inauguration ceremony, the soloist Hayk Kazazyan .
To add that on the stage was an Orchestra of Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre under the baton of creative director and chief conductor Karen Durgaryan.
State Youth orchestra of Armenia with conductor Ruben Asatryan will also appear on stage together with participants of the third round of competition and the creative director and chief conductor Sergey Smbatyan will conduct the same orchestra at the closing ceremony.
