Memory of Svetlana Grigoryan will forever remain in the hearts of many fans

Armenian theater suffered a heavy loss. One of the masters of the Armenian Theatre, People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR , actress of the Musical Comedy Theater after H. Paronyan Svetlana Grigoryan died at the age 84.

Svetlana Grigoryan was born on September 30, 1930 in Yerevan. She appeared on stage at the age of 13, when she was a pupil of Drama School. She graduated from the Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute.

For 55 years Svetlana Grigoryan played with the legend of the Armenian stage Karp Khachvankyan. In the record of the actress there are over a hundred roles. She is one of the founders of the TV theater.

Since 1949, at the invitation of Vardan Achemyan she played in the Musical Comedy Theater after H. Paronyan . She played more than 150 roles: Sima – “There is a city on the Volga” , Marietta – “La Bayadere”, Columbine – “The Venetian Twins”, Liksen – “Dancing Teacher”, Nunufar – “Old Disease”, Marta – “Eastern Dentist”, Jeanne – “Rose Marie”, Nata  – “Sofik’s Mistake”, Rosalia – “Kiss of Chanita”, Roz – “Taxi, taxi”, Satenik – “My mother-in-law” and others. In 1958 he was one of the founders of the Armenian television.

She has performed in numerous countries around the world, won numerous awards and prizes. In 2009 in Los Angeles, she was given the title “Queen of laughter”. She was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the USSR, and in 1987 – People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR. She was also awarded medals of Armenia  “Movses Khorenatsi” and the Armenian Church “St. Sahak and Mesrop”. She was an honorary citizen of Yerevan.
