Speaking Monuments: Monuments dedicated to Genocide

Numerous monuments commemorating the martyrs opened throughout the world on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.
Their number increased over the years. Today the number of the cross-stones, monuments and memorials dedicated to the first genocide of the 20th century reaches several hundreds.
One of the first monuments abroad is in Bikfaya city, Lebanon, located on a hill. The bronze abstract-style monument depicts a woman with her hands stretched to heaven. On every April 24 Lebanese-Armenians gather at this very monument.
The monument in Larnaca city, Cyprus, dedicated to the genocide, is erected in the image of a woman, too.
